International Center for Migration and Health (ICMH) believes the right to health must apply to all people, including migrants, refugees, internally displaced and other people on the move. ICMH believes that by protecting their health and welfare, and doing so in concert with the needs of sending and receiving countries, a contribution can be made to human and social development in general. The goal of ICMH is thus to assist countries, international agencies, NGOs and others so that they can prepare the type of policies and programs that are required in today’s world of accelerating mobility and migration. To this end, ICMH generates and provides research findings and information on health and social aspects of migration, helps formulate policy options and organizes training. |

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has been involved in the fight against the spread of the HIV/AIDS infection since the mid-1980s. The main focus of all Federation programs related to HIV/AIDS will be: a.) Developing internal competence--A major step in the process of becoming a global partner in reducing the impact of HIV/AIDS requires that Red Cross and Red Crescent societies address the pandemic's effects on members, volunteers and staff. To achieve this, all members and volunteers must be knowledgeable about the disease, commit to actions to prevent the spread of it and the appropriate policies and procedures must be put in place to institutionalize the fight against HIV/AIDS. b.) Reducing vulnerability to HIV/AIDS--Community-based action involving the different local stakeholders will be a core component of all program areas. |

The Linking Complex Emergency Response and Transition Initiative (CERTI) program aims to prevent and mitigate conflict as well as to improve timely and appropriate response and transition support to populations affected by conflict. CERTI assists the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other international organizations in analyzing conflict causes, consequences and the effectiveness of programs to address conflict and complex emergencies; developing tools and training modules to assist implementing agencies in planning and evaluation in the context of conflict/complex emergencies, and disseminating best practices related to CPMR. CERTI has provided assistance to USAID field missions in transition strategy development and developing results frameworks for transition programs. CERTI analyses cover the thematic areas of human security, health and conflict, civil-military dynamics, psychosocial aspects of conflict/complex emergencies, early warning/risk assessment and monitoring and evaluation related to CPMR. CERTI tools include frameworks, manuals, information management software, electronic libraries and modular electronic training tools. |
